Dear Accepted Author (Paper No. VR-00),
Thank-you for participating in the VRST'01 Conference Proceedings. This letter will acquaint you with the submission process of your paper and
expedite preparation of the proceedings for the conference. Please read all of
the submission instructions below, including how to prepare your four-color
figure(s) and how to submit your copyright forms.
Submission Deadlines and Preparation of Copy
All ACM sponsored proceedings will be included in the ACM Digital Library
as well as prepared for printed publication. All papers for the conference must be submitted in an electronic format which conforms to
ACM specifications and must be received on or before October 1,
2001. Your submission is limited to 8 pages. Templates for ACM
Proceedings are presented in Latex (use option #2 -- sig-alternate class
file) and Microsoft Word (using Word is preferred) and located at:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html.
1. Papers should be produced using the templates and submitted
electronically via email (as an attachment to the email) to: typedept@fast.net -- Use the name of the conference in the subject line
when submitting your material. Be sure your text and .ps files are formatted
for American Letter (8-1/2x11) and submissions that do not conform to the ACM standards and formats will be returned to the author
for corrections and/or alterations.
***If you are using WORD or Framemaker, please send me the .doc or .fm
file and a .ps file*. Please include the copyright information attached [use either VRST Blurb.doc (for WORD) or VRST-blurb.txt (for Frame)]. The
copyright info belongs in 8pt Times (or Times New Roman), note that VRST'01 should be made italic (see pdf). *WORD users do not have to send
a .ps file.
***For authors using LaTex, I need one complete .tex file and a .ps file.
[Use option#2--sig-alternate class file or the version of this class that
is attached--sig-alt-full.cls (both of these class files are tighter formats and automatically inserts the acm copyright information needed)].
LaTex user, please use Type 1 fonts. For additional info on type 1 fonts,
see: http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/sigfaq.htm#a14.
Authors, please
fill in or insert the following three lines after \begin{document}:

2. Authors that are US Government employees, please contact me for the
correct acm copyright info for your paper. Let me know the names and affiliations of your co-authors also.
3. Do not alter the templates other than for line or page breaks. Authors
using LaTex, be sure to put all text into ONE .tex document, including the
references from your .bbl file, please send your figures--zipped or tarred
together.
4. Your actual text (source) file is needed to produce the METADATA for
ACM's digital library.
5. Please incorporate the reviewers remarks into your paper and take care
to use proper column and page breaks.
Also be sure that there are no bad page or column breaks--meaning no widows (last line of a paragraph at the top of a column). If this happens
either tighten the previous column or force a line over.
Section and Sub-section heads should remain with at least 2 lines of body
text. Also, be sure that your .ps file is formatted for American Letter (8-1/2x11).
Color Figures/Illustrations
This year's proceedings will have a color section printed in the back with the color illustrations from your articles reproduced in 4-color
process. Your color figures put together can not exceed one full 8-1/2x11
page. The image area is: 7 inches x 9-1/4 inches. If your figures exceed
the image area on the page, they will be reduced.
Add to the end of the caption to the 4/c illustration/figure in your 8 pages: (Color reproduced in color on page 000.) If this wording is not
added to the caption, the figure will NOT be reproduced in the color section.
Please send as the figure(s) as a .tif or .eps (an attachment to the email with your full paper submission). In the email message indicate
which figure(s) are to be reproduced in color.
Copyright Release Form
ACM requires your original signature on a hardcopy of the copyright release
form. The form itself can be downloaded from:

The title, authors and publication must be filled in at the top and signed at the bottom. Be sure that your title matches your submission, or
a new form will be requested. The form with the lead author's original signature must be received on or before
October 1, 2001 to:

***If you print this form now and send it in, you do not have to send it
via an express carrier, regular USPS or airmail would be sufficient.
