Parking on and around campus is very, very limited. Thus, we
strongly recommend you do not use a private vehicle for
transportation. Instead, there are a number of hotels within
walking distance, and we provide a shuttle service between a
number of locations.

map for an overview of where the hotels are (mouse-over shows
the name of the hotel in the status bar of your browser). Keep in
mind that the gate to enter NPS is at the south-west side of the
campus, at the corner of Sloat Avenue and Morse Drive.

The shuttle service runs between NPS and the following
locations. It will start in the morning at the Best Western
Beach Resort, stop at the Embassy Suites, stop at Ramada
Limited, and drop everyone off at NPS, with a reversed
schedule at lunch time and in the evenings. It will run
roughly every half hour at the times before and after the main
conference, at lunch time, and after the banquet dinner:
Sun 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Mon 7-9am, 11:30-1pm, 5-7pm.
Tue 7-9am, 11:30-1pm, 4-7pm, 8:45-9:30pm.
Wed 7-9am, 11:30-1pm, 3-3:30pm.

There are many more hotels in Monterey. Those on Munras
Avenue are fairly close to downtown Monterey. Some are right
downtown, particularly the Mariott. Cannery Row is
another entertainment and restaurant area with a number of hotels,
some of them fancy and right on the water. Here is a
map of the larger Monterey area. If you are willing to venture
even further, the cities of Pacific Grove, Pebble
Beach, and Carmel are within 15 minutes drive from NPS
and all have excellent facilities to offer. Please keep in mind
that you will have to find your own transportation from those
locations to the NPS campus. The local bus service MST might come in
handy, though.
