Robin Murphy is Raytheon Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Faculty Fellow for Innovation in High-Impact Learning Experiences at Texas A&M University. She received the 2014 ACM Eugene L. Lawler Award, which recognizes humanitarian contributions within computer science and informatics."It was all about the information that robots could provide.... ACM applauds US President Barack Obama's historic announcement of the Computer Science for All initiative. As the announcement states, computer science is a new basic skill necessary for economic opportunity and social mobility, and one that impacts every sector of our economy. It is crucial that it be taught in all schools, in the US and around the world.

This year's CSCW conference, February 27-March 2, will allow remote participation via teleconferencing robots that can move throughout the entire conference site. CSCW planners believe that the experimental initiative may pave the way for greater accessibility to conferences in the future.

ACM is a sponsor of "Thinking Big: Ada, Countess of Lovelace," an exhibit at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The exhibit, on view through December 11, 2016, explores Ada's life through storytelling, live demonstrations, historical papers, and tours.
